The story of Herrernes Magasin - is the story of the playful boy David K

25 Years of Herrernes Magasin byDavidK

How did David, the business lawyer, become Denmark's best bet for a suit guru? What is Herrernes Magasin and who is this David with the very short last name?

Since 2011, David K has been a Go’morgen Danmark fashion reporter, buyer (1992), business lawyer (2000), designer (2010), and the very first man on the floor at Herrernes Magasin (1998).

David Krarup is the creator of a concept that combines impeccable quality with a cozy and disarming presence at an affordable price. David K sold suits back at NGG high school in 1991/1992 in Hørsholm. There were incredibly long waiting times for parent-teacher conferences. Initially, these were parallel imported suits from Hugo Boss. It started with brands, but the success has been built on the absence of designer brands, and he opened the store David K at Nørrevoldgade 54 in 1998 - the first step towards Herrernes Magasin, the same postcode, almost. David K graduated (ha jur) from CBS in 2000. Alongside this, he worked full-time as a media consultant at Advice, where he advised top 50 companies on youth communication and campaign construction.

An incredible number of guests voted for the store

In the years after its launch in 1998, in 2001 & 2002, David K won awards for best menswear store. Berlingske Tidende's major success medium AOK.dk had many great categories. It actually started with parallel imports of suits, jeans, etc., but has slowly evolved into a much more stable flow of deliveries from good clothing manufacturers such as Van Gils, Hugo Boss, and Lundströms. There are still a couple of brands in the store, Eton & Pal Zileri, but David is not brand-focused and believes there should be something for everyone. Designer brands are pleasantly reassuring.

Today, Herrernes Magasin is the place where you can find an enormous selection of accessories, information about bow ties, vests, and free Czech draft beer.

In the meantime, the store has moved 200 meters around the corner to Nørregade 20 – close to the old Daells Varehus. Here, David K is still active for many years alongside his faithful squire Bjarno, who celebrated his 50th anniversary in 2010. In 2023, Bjarno was part of the celebration for the family / a tailor through and through. Today, the essence of David's employees is NOT that they are skilled, but that they are loving, complete people he enjoys talking and spending his life with.

Herrernes Magasin dresses an enormous number of TV hosts and styles hosts for TV shows, as well as business leaders before press conferences and general meetings. In all modesty, we consider ourselves experts in business suits, party suits, and not just for Copenhageners, because 30% of our guests do not come from the city around us. They know that the groom, the anniversary, the jubilee, or the gala begins at Nørregade 20.
