Olympic Heat and Stylish Elegance on Important Occasions - How Can You Do It?

Athens summer 2024: Men's Magazine has sent David K to the Olympic Stadium in Athens to photograph some of the newest lightweight collections.

The beautiful Olympic Stadium and David's favorite Athenian hotel, The Margi, located in Athens' equivalent of Hornbæk, Vouliagmeni, form the backdrop for our photoshoot.

The drops start running down your back - it's impossible to avoid the heat. Speeches must be given, wine enjoyed. The crucial thing is not that you get hot, but how you get dry again. For this year's collection, we have chosen light materials and colors that do not reveal sweaty armpits and backs. Linen excels at drying quickly in the light breeze, and at the same time, it requires much less water for production, as linen plants often do not need to be

Half of the collection features a “resort” collar that opens up in a 70s style, providing air and space for a decorative scarf if the shirt is used for dress-code events that require a bit of silk around the neck. Resort collars can be fully buttoned up, allowing for a tie or bow tie with a suit or blazer.

The shirt that goes on vacation

The combination of a dress shirt and casual holiday wear is a difficult balance. It requires a break from the idea that ONLY white or light blue shirts are allowed for daily formalities. The classic blue suit is a canvas waiting for you to try on other shirts in the mirror.

The sun is baking down, and your shirt has a bigger task: to dry quickly when there's a slight breeze or cooling shade.

The suit in Athens is produced for summer 2024 and 2025. It resembles grandma's cottage, where ventilation problems were solved by airy fabrics. Do you remember the bedding in the flowing seersucker fabric? It will be a hit next summer.

Try it at your local haberdasher. In addition to looking delightfully casual, even with a few creases and wrinkles, the fabric allows the breeze to penetrate. The seersucker suit is fantastic to wear, even on millions of years old granite. I wore the suit again for dinner in the evening.

I could feel the heat from the stone beneath through my old Paul Smith Hercules sandals. I was changing shirts publicly, but it struck me that the shirts were just as comfortable as the T-shirt I was also photographed in.

The suit actually looks pretty cool with a T-shirt and a FIRENZE necktie. This silk scarf is an old favorite, but wow, how it elevates a T-shirt or polo to new heights.
