Now you can learn to tie a bow tie. We'll start with David K's old videos. Notice how short his hair is. The videos were recorded shortly after he was declared cancer-free from lymphoma. Perhaps that's why he looks so happy.

We at Herrernes Magasin are very fond of self-tie bow ties. However, we also have perhaps 50 different pre-tied ones you can check out, because we don't snob. As long as you wear a bow tie once in a while, we're happy.

Some bow tie fabrics are so loose or porous in structure that they cannot withstand being tied or pulled, the seams simply won't hold. Therefore, pre-tied bow ties are sometimes a very sensible idea.

Discipline over the knee

The problem with many bow tie videos is that we stand and learn in front of a mirror where everything is reversed. That's a difficult way to start as a beginner. Modern bow ties can typically be detached. This means they can be tied around your leg; check out that type of video. Tie it and then put it around your shirt collar. Alternatively, tie them 4 times over your knee so you get the hang of it, before you stand in front of the mirror and geek out. A funny comment came from a guest at Herrernes Magasin when we taught him to tie a bow tie on his leg over his knee; "most of my upbringing also happened over the knee". OUCH, take that and get started, sonny:-)

We have a small bar with draft beer and bubbles. Here we have taught perhaps 1001 guests over the years. You are free to book a small course for up to 90 people, but also just your closest friends.
